About the Founder - Nick Filippides M.Ed

Nick is writing Gilgamesh: The Musical as a passion project to teach the old texts of The Epic of Gilgamesh in an enjoyable, consumable way for both kids and adults alike. While other musicals stick to a certain genre type, Nick is creating a show that is both accessible for kids through popular genre types such as rap, pop, rock, while also including traditional styles of musical theatre and instruments native to the regions of Ancient Mesopotamia.
The show will feature ~30 songs with a fully auditioned cast through TikTok, Youtube, and Discord. The sections are broken into Arcs and will be released chronologically as they are finished. Auditions are selected by Nick and added into the mixes by Nick as well. It will feature the entirety of the Epic of Gilgamesh in its current state as of 2025, and will feature a through line story element written by Nick.
About Nick Filippides
Nicholas Filippides earned his stripes at the Hartt School of Music, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Music Education, before leveling up at Central Connecticut State University to earn his master's degree. He believes all students can achieve greatness if they can learn to enjoy the process of learning.
Nick has worked with thousands of different singers in public school settings, private tutoring sessions, an adult community choir and many professional events. Nick has music directed many musicals, and is composing his own in his free time. He is well versed in audition preparation, as he has judged hundreds of auditions over his time as an educator.

How long have you studied music?
Nick studied music at the Hartt School of Music for his Bachelor's degree during his time as a music educator. This continued with his Master's education at Central Connecticut State University.
How do auditions take place?
Auditions are conducted through Discord, TikTok, Youtube, and more! A video goes out asking for auditions, and any response/submission will be viewed and considered for the role! Simple and fun! There are no requisites minus the audition itself.
What purpose does this fulfil?
The Epic of Gilgamesh is the oldest piece of literature discovered. Its contents are still being discovered to this day, and its contents are commonly shared in schools, churches, and more! The easiest way to consume the work is to read a translation for the work or a summary. My goal is to fill this void with a diverse music repertoire all music enthusiasts can enjoy!
What makes this project special?
Gilgamesh The Musical is a project conducted through the internet community, and features a ton of collaboration with fellow history/music lovers. This all while being professionally engineered and completely crowd funded. It will feature a through line story to fill in the holes of the text, and musical motifs to pay attention throughout. A passion project to the extreme.
